Todd Bratrud grew up in a small farming community in rural northern minnesota, where football, hunting or throwing things off the bridge was considered the norm. However he was the exception - drawing and skateboarding was his idea of fun.
Todd spent many years working on all things art related for Consolidated Skateboards. These days you can find his art regularly featured on flip skateboards, volcom, the skateboard mag, nike, familia skateboard shop. He also operates Teenage Urethane and often contributes to Burlesque design of north america.
When he’s not working you can still find Todd skateboarding almost every day. He thoroughly enjoys his work and still sees it as a means of fun… the only real difference now is that he doesn’t have to give up groceries for rent money.

She one was born in London in 1969 SHE1 has been painting and making graphics for twenty years, exhibiting in Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo, Sydney, Singapore, Berlin and Milan. His own brand of abstract typography is rooted deep in the new wave graffiti era of the early eighties but his stylised shorthand and uniquely expressive approach to paintings keep him firmly in the present. His highly personalised work has crossed over into fashion (most recently working with Addict and Kswiss) product and audio collaboration, causing "Refill Magazine" to refer to him as a leading cultural artist.

Internationally renowned not only in the graffiti community, TATS Cru are arguably the most recognized street muralists painting today. Bombing since the early 70s, and incorporated since the 90s, TATS is the graffiti mural company, from the heart of graffiti, New York City. Now comprised of six members, BG, BIO, HOW, NICER, NOSM, and SEN2, TATS released a DVD in 2006 entitled The Mural Kings. Format had the chance speak with NICER and discuss coming up in NYC, bombing, territory, and why TATS deserve the title of Mural Kings.

Mr Jago, (plain Mr to his freinds) is one of the Scrawl Collective founder members and as such is central to the way the agency developed in it's infancy. Not a graffiti artist as such he took the influence of graffiti and ran with it in a completely different direction to everyone else at the time.

He then learned sculpting in a collectible figures company during one year. During the same period, he joined the COP (Control of Paris) crew in 1992 and painted many walls with his partner Steph (creator of the Imaginary Friendz collection). Leaving no surface, discipline, or location untouched, Maya Hayuk makes use of an unbounded and unpredictable matrix of sources, mediums, and styles. Her relationship to the images she invents is an intricate and complex free association and a perspicacious act of unfailingly putting all the parts together to make the whole. She employs intense yet pertinent colors, complex geometries, and fine lines in order to collect the constituents that make up her present and visceral world.

Spray paint, a skateboard, music, and an artistic gene all encompass the identity expressing the creative style of Kofie One. A self-taught artist, Kofie identified the beginnings of his medium in a motor yard of Los Angeles where he experienced graffiti culture. His way of life was skateboarding and his "crew", whose common bond was the neighborhood and attending the L.A. Unified School District. Amongst Kofie were "creatives" from diverse backgrounds consisting of graffiti "writers and markers"---but Kofie's focus was drawing cartoon characters.

The MC, graffiti writer and out-n-out chatty bastard first appeared on the Lex radar as an illustrator, designing flyers for local club nights and sleeve artwork for Warp Records' electronic pioneers, Plaid. Rolling dues-deep with fellow graffiti veteran Req One - the duo subsequently featured on the 2001 Lexoleum compilation with a raw, lo-fi offering, Rap Dracula.
Continuing the partnership, with Req handling nocturnal-beat-programming and Kid Acne (AKA Ackers, Ken Acid, Kidney Ache) taking care of microphone-grappling and wobble-gob duties, the next few years saw a string of releases on Acne's own Invisible Spies imprint such as Council Pop (2003), Reality Raps (2004) and various 7"s & long players with in-house collective, Toah Dynamic (featuring a rabble of cohorts including Chips for the Poor, Supreme Vagabond Craftsman & Earl Shilton).
A modern day renaissance man, Kid Acne is an internationally acclaimed artist having created his own comic book (Zebra Face 2001), designed numerous record sleeves for the likes of Big Dada & Chocolate Industries, customized spray cans for Montana Colors, an entire T-shirt range for Prada and exhibited in galleries throughout the world.

In the same way that a cat is scared of water, Kill Pixie is terrified of sleep. The grotesque notion that one should rest when he could be out in painting old Sydney town 18 shades of inspiration doesn’t sit well for the young infidel - who despite the recent spate of crackdowns on street artists has still managed to create spell binding imagery in some of the harbor cities seediest grottos.

Josh Petherick lives and works in Melbourne, Australia. Considering his lack of self-promotion knack and formal training, Petherick very quickly garnered much attention as one of the nation’s rising visual talents since setting up studio in 2002, shifting his work to an international audience. Josh divides his time between exhibition, freelance and musical projects. As an exhibiting artist he has shown work between the UK and Tokyo, decorating gallery spaces with all the warmth of a surrealist rumpus room - in 2005 being invited, whilst traveling in Central America, to do so for the renowned Colette in Paris, France.

Ferris Plock is an artist living in the Western Addition neighborhood of San Francisco. He grew up in the Bay Area, amusing himself with comic books, graffiti, hip-hop, and Chevy Impalas.
Surrealist and seemingly childish, Ferris' work doesn't subscribe to any particular genre. Based on sketches, his artwork more often than not incorporates animals or monsters in everyday human conditions- going to work, dodging splashes from cars, walking their pets, or being attacked by various creatures.

Lives Paris, France, Fafi is strong presence in the graffiti and fine art scenes who is known for her images of sexy and liberated girls. On walls or in paintings and drawings, her girls can be funny, sexy, or aggressive openly confronting and suggestive to the viewer. By exploring femininity through stereotypes, and using it to her advantage, Fafi creates girls who are both powerful and active. Offering a more reflective tone, Fafi has recently introduced news companions for her Fafinettes in little creatures named Hmilo, Birtak or Birdili

Bouncer, tour manager, clothing designer, photographer and director. Oriol is a Hip Hop icon.

He began his career as an L.A bouncer in the late 80’s - anything to be amongst the culture he loved. Soon enough he sniffed out the likes of Cypress Hill, and eager as ever to expand his knowledge of the Hip Hop industry, he secured a job as the tour manager of House of Pain on their ’92 tour.

His Bio reads: “Estevan invoked his unique photography style to catalogue the outrageous experiences he had on tour and began taking pictures of his neighborhood homies and the low rider culture. He had a gift for capturing the raw essence of street life through his photography. Within a short time, he became one of the most sought after photographers of the Urban and Hip Hop community. His work has been featured in magazines world-wide including: COMPLEX, FHM, GQ, Flaunt, Details, Vibe, The Fader, and Rolling Stone.”

Today, in addition to being CEO of Joker Brand Clothing and his full time career as a photographer, Estevan directs music videos for groups including Eminem, Cypress Hill, D12, Linkin Park, Blink 182, Paul Wall, P.O.D., and Xzibit. Check out this recently released video collage of some of his best work from the last decade.

Eric Elms is an artist from Brooklyn, New York and the only transparent characteristic of Elms, is, clearly, his talent for design.
Working with Supreme, aNYthing, Obey and Surr makes Elms an elite–not elitist–designer that possesses ageless wisdom within a relatively young industry.

Dmote's art derives from his youth and life experiences, his inspiration comes from the streets and graffiti. His paintings are a natural progression from a misspent youth to a new found maturity inspired by all things art, film, and fashion. Dmote's purpose through his art is to contribute to the progression of graffiti art worldwide and communicate on a level outside of that. With his illustrations and paintings, he believes there is a place to work commercially with integrity, this is important in his work.

Bigfoot the painter depicts his alter ego as an oversize woodland creature zapping bulldozers with lightning bolts, meditating in the forest, and sometimes terrorizing the viewer with menacing growls and grabbing paws. He's the ultimate tree hugger, but he's not a hippie. The work seems repetitive in a Rain Man-esque way, but if you look closely, you see there is a secret language being developed and a story building. The art of "getting up" is not lost on the endearingly shy, KISS-crazed artist, however; the demand for his gallery work has kept him out of the streets since July 2004.

Kid Acne was born in Malawi in 1978. He grew up in England and is currently based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. His career as an artist began with an appearance on the UK’s Rolf’s Cartoon Club at the age of twelve and within a year, he’d started painting graffiti and was in the hospital recovering from a bad acid trip. Neither incident was related to Rolf in any way. v
Since then, his illustrations have adorned everything from record sleeves and knitwear to collections for Milan’s fashionista. His work can be found throughout the world, from the street paintings in Sao Paulo to to tags backstage in Vienna. He doesn’t use stencils and he still has acne.

Andy Howell’s roots are simple: skateboarding, surfing, drawing, painting, punk rock, and hip hop. Howell travelled the world for 7 years as a pro skateboarder and during his career co-founded New Deal Skateboards and Element Skateboards. Howell draws on anything from electrical boxes on the street to skateboard decks to canvas and paper. Howell’s work relays an atmosphere of humor, while fusing his attraction to man’s vices with a cynical distaste for them.

Designer/Director and co-founder of Sydney based design and film collective Collider, Andrew van der Westhuyzen covers a range of creative fields from typography for print campaigns to animation direction, branding, art direction and web. Andrew’s client list includes MTV Australia, BMW USA, Target, Sydney Film Festival, Sydney Dance Company, Royal Australian Institute of Architects, Australian Tourism, Ministry of Sound and Toyota.
Andrew is now in the process of publishing a graphic novel four years in the making. ‘Cabal’ is a culmination of years of drawings and paintings created to illustrate a story about contemporary society’s fixation with mass-consumption. The book, hand embossed and embellished, is created as a series of artist’s editions, and is in itself a culmination of van der Westhuyzen’s multi-faceted creative ability and passion. Andrew lectures at UTS and has spoken at Semi Permanent alongside such icons as Stefan Sagmeister, SEA Design, and Danny Yount.

Alex Trochut is a freelance graphic designer from Barcelona. He loves type and illustration. He doesn’t favour one over the other, but he particularly likes it when both are present. He’s a big believer in “More is More.” He doesn’t like limiting himself to a particular style. He enjoys communicating through the needs of every project by adapting each situation differently in order to express himself.
